enewsletter - #4 September 2008
Hi Everyone,
It has been a long and eventful summer and there is much planned in the coming weeks, so I wanted to take the opportunity to inform you all of some interesting events!
I would like to announce that Britney Waldron, of Waldron Entertainment has joined the Decadent Rare Team and will be working with me as my manager. Welcome Britney!
The main event on the horizon is the debut of Decadent Rare, a evening series of music and literature I am creating with the help of my wonderful VOCABLE partner, poet a.rawlings. The series is an attempt to gently mix the two worlds of music and literature. As you all know, I am very much involved in music, sound poetry, and theatre. The Decadent Rare series presents the unique challenge of sharing our storytelling skills as singers, songwriters, poets, playwrights, and writers. Our debut show, at The Supermarket in Kensington Market, has an amazing line up of artists (see more info. below) and the evening will kick off early and wrap up at a decent time so that everyone can enjoy the fun!
I hope to see you at Decadent Rare on September 17th!
Cheers,
Ciara

The Decadent Rare Series is an evening of combined music and literature. We are pleased to announce that our debut event will feature performances and readings by Natalie Walshots, Sule Heitner, Sean Dixon and Ciara Adams.
Natalie Zina Walschots recently completed her MA in Creative Writing at the University of Calgary. She serves as the Poetry Editor for filling Station and is the co-organizer of the Flywheel reading series. She has also served as the Managing Editor for dandelion. Her work has recently appeared in Matrix and The Capilano Review. Sections of Thumbscrews have appeared as the No Press chapbooks Passion Play and Christening.
The 2007 Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry Winner! Thumbscrews is a poetic engagement with the aesthetics of sadomasochism and consensual pain. It employs the techniques of mannerist poetry to constrain language as ropes, cuffs, or shackles that might be used to constrain the body.

Sule Heitner (SouLay) has been playing music since the age of five and has been plugging away on his music career for roughly the past15 years. A music career is a multi faceted thing involving different disciplines and skill sets and Sule has been involved in as many as possible. He began as a student of the piano but quickly switched to the guitar. Singing, songwriting and a naturally good ear came as gifts to Sule and he's used these to launch himself in various directions.
While playing in rock bands in school, Sule studied classical guitar, from where he gleaned his "no pick" finger playing style. He soon went on to study Jazz while leading and fronting the funk rock group Tribal Groove. At the same time, Sule experimented with Jump Jive and swing in the group Atomic Cocktail and sang and played guitar for the internationally known "Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir". The choir became a favorite of Celine Dion's, and Sule got to test his mettle as a soloist for the MJGC opening up for Celine's sold out crowds.

Ciara Adams is a charismatic and versatile performer . Her background in opera and cabaret and her undeniable soul for jazz combine to create a delectably original contemporary style. Ciara's new record, Last of the Bohemians produced by Tim Abraham at the Hive Studios in Toronto, blends her style with an influence of pop, electronica and contemporary groove.
Her debut release, Ciara Adams Live at Le Select Bistro found it's way onto jazz top ten lists in Europe and Asia. This versatile singer/songwriter's music has been praised for it's depth, originality, and eclectic sound, and her live show with band Decadent Rare, is not to be missed.
